Mulkeymania running wild in AWE!
They were once the #13 contenders to the U.S. Tag Team Titles. They earned their way into thre second annual Jim Crockett Sr. Memorial Tag Team Tournament with an upset win over the heavily favored Gladiators.
And now Mulkeymania is about to run wild over AWE.
Randy and Bill Mulkey have been signed for the Oct. 15 AWE Awesome Night of the Superstars in Fishersville, Va. The veteran tag team competed regularly with the top tag teams in Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling and World Championship Wrestling in the 1980s and 1990s, including The Midnight Express, The Four Horsemen, The Road Warriors and The Rock-n-Roll Express.
The Mulkey name came up recently in AWE when AWE CEO Marvin Ward referenced them in the context of a discussion involving The Rock-n-Roll Express. Ward said in an interview that the Mulkeys could have been NWA Tag Team Champions in the 1980s if they’d gotten as many pushes as The Rock-n-Roll Express, igniting a feud with Ricky Morton that has culminated in the main event for the Night of the Legends show involving Morton and Ward’s alter ego, Doug Gibson.
The Mulkey brothers have made a return to wrestling in recent years with appearances on the legends circuit, including scoring another upset win over THe Gladiators in their return match in 2007.
The card for the AWE Awesome Night of the Legends show includes Kevin Nash, Terry Funk, Diamond Dallas Page, Tully Blanchard, U-Gene, Bobby Eaton, Tammy Sytch and Baby Doll.
